About and Contact

Welcome to My Vintage Daydream! I am so excited that you're here. My name is Rhiannon and this is a blog dedicated to the expressing the eras gone by in modern times.

Like many people in 2020, with more time to give to other things - I discovered vintage - everything. Drawn initially to the 1950s, I began to invest in reproduction brands and bought my first set of foam rollers. It was a humble beginning, and I still feel like a newbie even now! You have to be a beginner before you can be anything else! There is nothing like learning a vintage hairstyle, successfully cooking wartime recipe or finding a second-hand dress that's older than me.

Fast forward three years - 2022 turned into 2023 - and as a resolution of some description, I promised myself that I'd begin to live my vintage daydream every day. Whether it is simply wearing pearls and red lipstick, or pulling together an entire look to cook Guernsey Potato Peel Pie and ANZAC biscuits in my kitchen at home - it didn't matter. It's a commitment - and one, done lovingly so.

This is my venture into the past, the decades that have inspired me and the lifestyles of those who came before me. I've always been fascinated by history and the generations that I never knew.

Whether you love the Gatsby feel of the 1920s, the Hollywood glamour of the 1930s, the militant influence of the 1940s, or the full skirts of the 1950s (don't be surprised if a 1960s Twiggy beehive sneaks in!) - I hope you find something here you love, something that inspires you to remember a time or a moment that might otherwise be forgotten.

My Vintage Beginning

If I'm completely honest, I never felt that I could pull off a vintage, retro or rockabilly styles. I loved scrolling through Pinterest swooning over the aesthetic of it all! I admired it from afar and vicariously lived through my friends who wore petticoats and victory rolls every day. I just never imagined or considered it for myself!  It wasn't until I'd moved to the UK and had a bit more time because of the seemingly never-ending lockdowns during the pandemic - that I took to the internet and dipped my toe into the vast expanse that is vintage and/or retro. I began simply - a pin curl here or a head scarf there - and of course, red anything. I began to discover reproduction brands such as the Collectif and British Retro . I adored the swing dresses and skirts - and I bought my very first petticoat! I daren't part from her and I'll hold onto her until she's hanging by the stitches! She's my old faithful!  My favourite dresses in the beginning were these

Creating content for my Instagram, making products for my Etsy store and writing posts for this blog has just been something that I've become so utterly consumed by - EXCITEMENT IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT! I am - by definition - wildly impatient so I wanted to share more about My Vintage Daydream and what's coming!  My Vintage Daydream was a blog of 'Drafts' that was unlikely to ever see the light of day - but as I turned into 2023, I gave into my love for vintage and committed to it whole-heartedly. I was scrolling through my Photos and I thought to myself  'I'm literally living and breathing this every day now - I actually want to share it too'.  A quiet Saturday evening turned into a few first posts! Next thing you know, an unsuspecting blog became an Instagram account - and literally within days - became an Etsy shop. This has been an incredibly spontaneous endeavour and I can't predict where it'll take me, but I can share what to expect in the next co
